Environmental Communication: Tampa Bay's Marine Plastics Problem
My name is Jayden, and when I started this project, I intended to create a short-film documentary for my communication project. The short-film was going to hopefully include input from local, relevant voices on the issue of ocean plastics. I found out pretty quickly that making a short documentary in under a month would not bring to life the vision I had originally intended when I decided on my project medium. Nonetheless, I started out by doing research. Lots of it. I found out about the Tampa Bay Estuary Program , the Tampa Bay Waters Microplastics Program with USFSP and Eckerd College , and also remembered a local social media influencer who picked up trash in Tampa Bay everyday for 500 days. I reached out to Caulin, the social media influencer who goes by @trashcaulin on instagram and Tik Tok and has over 1.3 million followers on Tik Tok.
